Nestled along the picturesque shores of Trout Lake, The Portage offers a delightful dining experience that harks back to its roots as a historic pub. With a cozy, low-key atmosphere, it appeals to families, vacationers, and snowmobile enthusiasts alike. One standout feature is its intentional lack of cell service, which fosters genuine connections among diners—a refreshing change in today’s tech-driven world.
Food lovers will revel in the menu, especially the 'Monster Burger' and the notorious Tage Burger, both heralded as some of the best in the region. Patrons rave about the deliciousness and affordability of the dishes, complemented by a friendly and attentive crew. The Portage invites bucolic charm, where locals gather every Friday, creating a sense of community.
Although some reviewers expressed a desire for themed nights or live events to revitalize the venue’s vibrant past, the existing offerings deliver satisfaction. Overall, The Portage stands out as a must-visit culinary gem, where the food, atmosphere, and community collide effortlessly for an unparalleled dining experience.

Great spot for friends or family. No Cell service which is great so everyone stays off their phone and you actually get a much better dining experience. Highly recommended.

This historic pub still serves up a unique, fun and low-key atmosphere best suited for family, vacationers, and snow mobile enthusiasts. I would love to see theme nights and events like card nights, board game nights, and live music so that we could support a Renaissance for this once-vibrant venue.

Great friendly neighbourhood pub on Trout Lake. You can get there by car, boat or snowmobile (or in my case, on foot)! If you're a burger lover, you have to try the Tage Burger. It's deliciously decadent! It's where the neighbourhood meets every Friday.

Mexican veggie wraps are the best vegan wraps I’ve ever had, crave them all the time and they never disappoint. Also the goat cheese salad is impeccable, dressing delicious and homemade

"The Best Burger in North Bay". Yes it is! Homemade BBQ sauce with onion, bacon mushrooms.. oh it was good. They also have the monster Tage' Burger which is double the size!!! The fries are also cooked perfectly and have great seasoning. My mom had the baked lasagna meal and she could only finish half. The chef came out and asked if it was good and she wouldn't stop a raving about it. Ends up it's his own creation! There is marinara sauce on 1/2 and alfredo sauce on the other half so you can dip and choose your style. All local beers on tap.
